The Silk Orchid: All You Need for a Fantastic Flower Arrangement

Flower arrangements have a tendency to be ordinary, boring, and even old fashioned. Still, they provide a great way to decorate your interior and bring the outdoors in all year long. There are more to silk flowers than the arrangement of the red roses and babys breath your grandmother kept on top of the toilet in her guest bathroom. Enter the silk orchid. Silk orchids are an enchanting way to add a modern, stylistic and unique flair to the world of flower arranging. Read below for more on the silk orchid as well as all the other supplies you need to make an arrangement sure to be an eye catcher.

The Silk Orchid

The silk orchid comes in a variety of unique shapes and colors. Some have lime green petals with brown spots and deep brown centers. Others are dark reddish brown with a darker green center. The flowers shoot off of beautiful brown stems that are long and elegant. There are also shorter stalked silk orchid varieties available. Regardless of what color, style and length you desire, you are sure to find a silk orchid that is right for your home decor.

The Other Supplies

So how do you get a silk orchid arrangement others will envy? Start with a clear two and a half feet tall vase that tapers toward the bottom and flutes out at the top. In addition, you will need artificial moss, smooth river rock, and of course, your silk orchid choices, and a selection of artificial grasses.

Your Unique Arrangement

Where to begin? Start by placing some of the artificial moss into the vase until you have filled approximately one foot of the vase. Place ten to fifteen river rocks on top of moss around the rim of the vase, providing room for you to stick in your orchids. Stick your orchids into the vase allowing the thick artificial leaves to flip upward and press against the vase. Trim your silk orchid as needed and stick them into the vase until you achieve a desired height. Then, have fun with the artificial grass, placing them as appropriate.

Of course there are other examples of unique silk orchids and a variety of different flower arrangements you can choose to put in your home. But if youve never worked with silk flowers before, the above example is a great easy example to keep you busy.
